Children and youth face many challenges in their life, effecting their feelings, actions and learning. Child and youth therapy can be a good treatment for these problems. Therapy for children and youth can help them talk and learn to work out their problems, learn to develop coping mechanisms, communication skills rather than keep them bottled up inside.
Why your child might need therapy:
- Peer pressure
- Behaviour concerns
- School stress (stress of taking exams/ going to school)
- Self-esteem issues
- Body image concerns
- New transitions (ex. separation/divorce, new baby)
How it works:
- Through a child and youth development they learn by doing. This can mean working with family, drawing picture, playing, talking etc., Whereas with youth, we prefer to take a shared activated that will focus on the learning skills they need, that can lead to talking through their feelings and problem solving. The goal is to help the child and youth believe in themselves and find their strengths, and therapy hopes to achieve this by building thinking patterns and healthy behavioural habits.
