This therapy is goal oriented and has a focus on the client present and future circumstance with goals rather than their past experience. The clinical therapist will encourage the client to develop a vision of their future and continues to offer support as the client determines skills, resources and the abilities needed to achieve the vision at hand.
How does it work?
- It helps the client experiencing difficulty to find the tools they can use immediately to manage their symptoms as well as cope with the challenges that they are facing
- Clients may already have the skills to create change in their lives but may need help identifying and developing the skills.
- Work to collaboratively develop a series of solutions that will help the client achieve the goal.
- Clinical therapists work to guide the client through a process of recognizing what is working, aid them in exploring how to continue practicing those strategies, encourage and congratulate the success
