Feeling nothing is still feeling something.

Some days, it’s getting through the workday and collapsing on the couch. Other days, it’s staring at the ceiling, wondering what the point is. You’ve been holding it together for everyone else, or you’ve pushed through so many days that now you’re running on autopilot. That shutdown, that sense of emptiness, is not weakness. It’s your mind and body trying to protect you in the only way they know how: by going quiet.

At Mindful Path Counselling, we offer depression therapy and help you gently listen to that signal and begin the slow, meaningful work of coming back to yourself.

“Even the darkest night will end and the sun will rise.”

Why Depression Therapy?

Depression has a way of dulling everything: your energy, your interest, your sense of self. It creeps into your thoughts, your body, and your routines, making even the basics feel like too much. You know that doing something will likely help you feel better, but you don’t have the energy to do it. And no matter how much you want to feel better, you don’t know where to start.

At Mindful Path Counselling, we use evidence-based approaches in depression tretament, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), EMDR, Narrative Therapy, Somatic Experiencing, and DBT to help you untangle the thoughts and patterns that keep you stuck.

In a safe and compassionate space, we gently support you in:

  • Understanding what’s at the root of your depression, whether it’s past trauma, relationship wounds, burnout, or something else
  • Exploring your emotions without shame, pressure, or judgment
  • Building practical skills to manage depression symptoms and feel more emotionally steady
  • Reconnecting with your sense of self, your values, and the things that matter to you

You’ve been carrying so much for so long, and it’s okay to set some of it down here. In depression therapy, we’ll help you sort through it, gently, at your own pace.

How does depression therapy help?

People equate depression with feeling sad, but often, depression feels like not feeling anything at all. The things you used to care about don’t really spark anything anymore, and you might not even remember the last time you truly felt something. It’s like you’re here, but not really here. Depression treatment helps you reconnect with your emotions and feel more present in your life.
Simple tasks like brushing your teeth, answering a message, or making a meal can feel like climbing a mountain. Even when you want to do things, your body and mind may not follow. This can lead to a cycle of guilt and self-blame that makes it even harder to get going. Therapy for depression helps you break that cycle and rebuild energy and momentum, one step at a time.
You might struggle to fall asleep, stay asleep, or feel rested even after a full night. For others, depression shows up as sleeping too much, as sleep becomes an escape from the emotional weight of the day. Depression therapy helps improve your sleep by addressing the emotional root causes and calming your nervous system.
Depression can hijack your inner voice. You might constantly criticize yourself, feel like a burden, or believe you’re not good enough. These thoughts aren’t facts, but when you hear them every day, they start to shape how you see yourself. Therapy for depression helps you challenge those beliefs and replace them with a more compassionate inner dialogue.
Things that once brought joy, like your hobbies, friendships, and even family time, might feel empty or draining now. Isolation can feel safer than trying to fake being “okay,” but over time, it can deepen the loneliness and make it harder to reach out. Therapy helps you rebuild connection at your own pace, without pressure or pretending.
Depression can cloud your mind, making it difficult to focus, remember things, or make even small choices. You may feel frustrated with yourself or like you’re constantly “off,” even if you can’t explain why. Depression therapy helps clear the mental fog and gives you tools to focus, plan, and feel more in control again.
The emotional pain of depression often shows up in the body: tightness in the chest, headaches, digestive issues, or a sense of heaviness that’s hard to shake. These symptoms are real, and they deserve attention, too. Therapy helps ease these physical burdens by addressing the emotional weight behind them.

Questions About Depression Therapy

That’s a common fear, especially if you’ve tried things before that didn’t help. But therapy isn’t one-size-fits-all. Sometimes it takes finding the right therapist or approach. If something’s not working, we can adjust the plan, try a different method, or explore other options like medication. The key is to keep going; lots of people who felt stuck at first find relief and real healing over time.

Everyone has tough days, but depression tends to last longer and affect more areas of your life. If you’ve felt low, tired, disconnected, or unmotivated for more than two weeks, and it’s getting in the way of work, relationships, or daily tasks, it might be depression. You might also notice changes in sleep, appetite, energy, or focus. If this sounds familiar, it’s worth talking to someone.

At Mindful Path Counselling, therapy gives you space to unpack what you’re feeling and understand what’s underneath your symptoms. We help you untangle heavy thoughts, build tools to manage emotions, and reconnect with what matters to you. Our depression therapists use evidence-based approaches like Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Somatic Therapy, and EMDR Therapy to support your healing in a way that fits your needs.

If sitting still feels overwhelming, we also offer Walk & Talk Therapy, a research-supported approach that can gently lift your mood, reduce stress, and help you feel more grounded. Sometimes, movement and a change of environment make it easier to process what you’re feeling and move forward.

Everyone’s different. Some people start to feel better in a few sessions, while others take more time. It depends on your situation and what kind of support you have. Think of depression therapy like building emotional strength. It may take a little time, but we’ll be here with you every step of the way.

At Mindful Path Counselling, you won’t be doing it alone. Our team is warm, down-to-earth, and genuinely here for you. We’ll walk alongside you at your own pace, every step of the way.

For some people, therapy alone works well. For others, especially with more severe symptoms, a mix of therapy and medication is the most helpful. If you’re not sure, we can talk through it and help you figure out what feels right for you.
