RECONNECT WITH LIFE AND MEANING

Healing takes time, even when life looks “normal”

Even when life looks fine on the outside, inside, everything feels changed. Grief can bring fog, exhaustion, sleepless nights, and emotions of sadness, guilt, anger, or numbness. And when others expect you to “move on,” the loneliness of carrying it all can feel even heavier.

The truth is, grief doesn’t follow neat stages or a fixed timeline. It’s not about “getting over it.” It’s about learning how to carry your loss in a different and meaningful way.

"Grief never ends…but it changes. It’s a passage, not a place to stay. It’s not a sign of weakness, nor a lack of faith. It is the price of love."

Grief Counselling

Why Grief Counselling?

Grief has a way of showing up everywhere. It can leave you exhausted, unable to focus, struggling to sleep, or feeling disconnected from the people around you. Even when you thought you were prepared, the loss can still knock the ground out from under you. Suddenly, you don’t know who you are or how you fit into your world anymore.

Grief isn’t something you complete and then leave behind. It becomes part of your story, something you walk with as life slowly grows around it. Grief counselling gives you a place to pause, breathe, and sort through the emotions that come in waves. It’s a space to honour your loss while gently finding your way back into life.

At Mindful Path Counselling, our therapists meet you with warmth, understanding, and respect for your unique story and culture. With the right support, you can find steadier ground, carry your grief with less weight, and begin to feel connected to yourself, to your loved one, and to the world around you again.

Questions About Grief Counselling

So many people worry they’re grieving “wrong.” Maybe you cry all the time, or maybe you haven’t cried at all. Some days, you might feel overwhelmed, while other days you feel almost numb. All of this is normal. There’s no checklist or timeline for grief, and our team is here to remind you that whatever you’re experiencing is valid. Together, we’ll help you find ways to cope that feel supportive and gentle, instead of judging yourself for how you’re grieving.
Grief isn’t something you finish or cross off a list. For many people, the sharpest pain begins to soften in the first year, but anniversaries, holidays, or even a familiar song can bring it rushing back. That doesn’t mean you’re doing it wrong; it just means your love and your bond are still alive in you. Our team can walk alongside you as you learn to carry your grief in a way that feels lighter, so that life can grow around it without forcing you to leave your loved one behind.
Every session looks a little different, because your story and your loss are unique. Sometimes in grief counselling, we talk through memories or share feelings you haven’t said out loud before. Other times, we walk you through coping strategies or use approaches like CBT, ACT, EMDR, or Somatic Experiencing to ease the weight grief puts on your body and mind. With our team, you set the pace. We’re here to offer tools, compassion, and steady support as you navigate this new reality.
Because grief affects the mind, body, and spirit, our team draws from a range of approaches to support you in different ways. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) can help quiet painful thoughts like “I should have done more.” Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) gives you space to feel your emotions while also helping you reconnect with the values that matter most to you. Somatic Experiencing works with the heaviness and tension that grief often leaves in the body, while EMDR can be especially helpful after sudden or traumatic loss. We may also use creative and narrative tools such as writing, rituals, or memory projects to honour your loved one and give expression to feelings that are too big for words. Together, we will find the approaches that feel most supportive for you so you can take steps toward healing without ever feeling rushed or alone.
If your grief feels so heavy that it’s hard to get through the day, if you feel alone or misunderstood, or if you’re not sure how to live with the loss while still moving forward, grief counselling might be a good fit. Some people come to us right after a loss, others only seek help years later. There’s no wrong time. Our team will meet you where you are and walk with you at a pace that feels right for you.
Grief isn’t about letting go. It’s about finding new ways to stay connected. Counselling for bereavement and loss can help you explore rituals, storytelling, memory projects, or simply creating space to talk about your loved one without fear of “burdening” others. Our team can help you carry your memories with love instead of only pain, so you can continue to feel that bond while still finding joy, purpose, and connection in the present.
