I have over ten years of experience working with children and youth in areas such as anxiety, depression, grief and loss, parental separation/divorce, self-esteem, anger management, peer issues, and behavioural challenges at home or school. When working with children and youth, I take time to build a solid therapeutic relationship. I spend time helping clients feel comfortable in the counselling environment by playing games, doing crafts, and utilizing other play therapy methods to establish a safe and trusting therapeutic space.
I have extensive experience working with Indigenous clients and have primarily worked in Indigenous communities. I am from Aundeck Omni Kaning First Nation and have Ojibway and Irish/Scottish heritage. I view health and wellness wholistically and utilize an eclectic approach when working with clients. My therapeutic approach is person-centered and trauma-informed and primarily reflects CBT and play therapy principles. I focus on helping clients identify their strengths, process emotional issues, expand their healthy coping skills, and learn new ways to handle challenging situations.
My educational background includes a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. I am currently enrolled in a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MACP) program to further develop my psychotherapy knowledge and skills. I describe myself as a lifelong learner and see value in continually expanding my skillset to help clients in the best way possible.
As a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), my areas of focus include working with children and youth to help them navigate mental health and/or psychosocial challenges.
If you’re ready to get started, I always offer a 15-min consult to see if we are a good fit. I’d love to help you, a friend, or a member of your family get the help they need to live better.
