Choosing a counsellor is a deeply personal decision. My goal is to offer a space where you feel understood, supported, and genuinely empowered. I bring nearly twenty years of experience in mental health work, grounded in a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology. I am also a Registered Social Worker and have worked extensively as an educator, helping future Social Workers develop strong, ethical, person-centered skills.
Throughout my career, I’ve supported individuals, couples, and families across all ages and life stages, and I’ve had the privilege of working with a wide range of communities, identities, cultural backgrounds, and lived experiences.
I have a particular passion for supporting people navigating mental health challenges, substance use, major life transitions such as parenting, relationship and career changes, and those seeking to re-ignite their purpose and reconnect with their authentic self. My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in trauma-informed, person- centered practice, drawing from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), somatic and mindfulness based approaches, the Gottman Method, and more.
Finding the Right Counsellor – Who I work best with
I work best with people who are ready to slow down, look inward, and engage honestly with their experiences. If you’re seeking a counsellor who simply agrees with everything you say, I may not be the right fit. My role is to offer compassionate support while also gently challenging patterns that no longer serve you — helping you stay with the discomfort long enough to understand it, release it, and create space for something new.
Growth often happens in subtle shifts: small realizations, quiet “aha” moments, and gradual changes that accumulate over time. Many people come to counselling when life has become too heavy to carry alone. Years and often intergenerational hurt, trauma, relationship struggles, mistakes, failures, developmental milestones celebrated and grieved, and unspoken pain can all build up and ‘suddenly’ become too much to carry. Unpacking individual and intergenerational pain and trauma takes patience, commitment, and a great deal of self-compassion and forgiveness. It also takes courage to acknowledge that while we have been hurt, we have also sometimes hurt others — and that this does not make us bad people. It makes us human.
We are deeply interconnected beings, and when we do inner work, our relationships and patterns naturally begin to shift. This process can be messy, emotional, and challenging, but it is also profoundly meaningful. Together, we can uncover your strengths, reconnect with your most authentic self, and rebuild healthier relationships with yourself and others. If you’re ready to take the next step toward feeling more grounded, connected, and aligned with the life you want to create, I’m here to walk alongside you.
"I hope that either all of us or none of us are judged by the actions of our weakest moments, but rather the strength we show when and if we’re ever given a second chance."
