Project Description

A form of couple’s therapy that includes an assessment of the relationship and integrates therapeutic framework and interventions. The assessment will help to inform the therapist of what framework and intervention that is to be used.

An initial session might look like: Assessment: a joint session with both partners that is then followed by individual interviews with each partner. Couples will complete questionnaires and receive feedback.

Therapeutic framework: both the couple and the therapist decide on the frequency and duration of the sessions.

Therapeutic interventions; designed to help the couple strengthen their relationships in three primary areas including; friendship, conflict management, and creation of shared meaning. The couple will learn to replace negative conflict patterns with positive interactions to repair the past. These interventions are designed to increase closeness and intimacy that will be used to improve friendships, gain a deeper emotional connection, and create changes that enhance couples shared goals.
