This modality is a future-oriented, goal-directed approach to solving real-life problems. The focus is on your health rather than the problem, on strengths rather than weaknesses or deficits, and on skills, resources, and coping abilities that would help you reach future goals.

This modality actively works towards a solution by helping you identify what you do well. It works by encouraging you to use your strengths to reach your goals.

Challenges:

There is a potential for you to focus on problems that the Social Worker/Psychotherapist believes are secondary problems.

Goals:

To find an immediate solution to the problem(s) as soon as possible to minimize time spent in therapy and, more importantly, time spent struggling or suffering. You and the Social Worker/Psychotherapist will work together to set goals and find solutions to overcome the problem(s) or issue(s).
