I hold a Masters of Social Work degree from Wilfrid Laurier University and I am a member in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW). I have continued my professional development and obtained certifications in a number of therapeutic modalities. Most recently Narrative Therapy, Mindfulness, Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) as well as other therapeutic modalities that will help guide my work. In addition to my development of therapeutic modalities I’m working towards my Doctoral of Higher Education and Leadership from Capella University.
My counselling style is strengths-focused and client-centered. I focus on addressing present life challenges while integrating past experiences. My services are suitable for individuals, couples, and families that are feeling overwhelmed by their thoughts, emotions, and life experiences. I specialize in the treatment of Depression, Anxiety, Hoarding, and Trauma related disorders. I provide individual counselling and in-home visits (will resume after COVID-19) where I conduct exposure work with the person.
Most importantly, I am a genuine, authentic, knowledgeable and compassionate person. I believe that people are the experts of their own life and through the therapeutic process help people work through life’s challenges in hopes of living a more fulfilling life. In my personal time, I love spending time with and connecting with family/friends and my three dogs. I love to stay active through Cross Fit as an athlete, spending time in nature, and getting my zen on through yoga practice.
