Stephanie Dinsmore EdD MSW RSW (she/her)

As a trauma-informed, person-centered, and relational therapist learning is paramount to me to effectively provide concurrent knowledge and best-practice services to my clients. In March 2023, I completed my Doctorate in Higher Education and Leadership EdD with Capella University. In addition, I hold a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from Wilfrid Laurier University, and I am a registered social worker (RSW) and member in good standing of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW). I hold over fifteen years of experience with counselling and in the field of mental health and wellness. In addition to my formal education, I have continued in my pursuit of expanding my professional development folder. Most recently, I have been working towards a certificate in Somatic Experiencing certificate to work from a bottom-up approach to Big T trauma and Ecotherapy where we can experience walk-n-talk in nature while we work together on the client’s mental health. As a senior therapist, I consider myself an eclectic as I utilize a range of therapeutic modalities in addition to the ones I just mentioned; Narrative Therapy, Mindfulness, Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), all of which work to support the unique individual.

My counselling style is inclusive of the whole-person, culturally competent, strengths-focused, and client-centered. We will work to address your present life challenges while integrating your past experiences. My services suit individuals, youth, post-secondary students, couples, and families feeling overwhelmed by their thoughts, emotions, behaviours, and life experiences. I specialize in treating Trauma (t and T), Depression, Panic Attacks, Anxiety, Negative Thought Patterns, family conflict, chronic illness/chronic pain, and Hoarding related disorders.

Most importantly, I am genuine, authentic, knowledgeable, and compassionate. I believe that you are the expert in your own life, and through the therapeutic process, I will help you work through life’s challenges in hopes of living a more fulfilling life. In my time, I love spending time with family/friends and my two dogs. I love to stay active through Crossfit, health, wellness, and spending time in nature.
